The drafting process began in 2001 during the preparation phase, and the development phase began in 2004. Experts from 500 different organisations representing more than 99 countries were involved in various aspects of social responsibility. Six main stakeholder groups were involved; consumers; government; industry; labour; non-governmental organizations (NGOs); and service, support, research, academics and others.<\/p>\n<p>After a lengthy process of deliberation and negotiation, the standard was finally released on 1st Nov 2010<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div id=\"503fa6f2-ad76-4\" class=\"tab-pane fade\"><\/p>\n<p>ISO 26000 is an International Standard developed to help organizations effectively assess and address social responsibilities and thus contribute to sustainable environmental, social and economic development.<\/p>\n<p>ISO 26000 is not a certifiable Standard, as it does not contain requirements and is not a management system standard but provides a guideline to maximize an organization\u2019s contribution to sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"rt-accordion element-one  \"  vc_custom_1570165271323 ><div class=\"rt-accordion-item\"><div class=\"rt-accordion-item-title\"><div class=\"rt-accordion-item-title-icon\"><i class=\"fa fa-angle-down\"><\/i><\/div><h4 class=\"panel-title\">Key Principles of ISO 26000<\/h4><\/div><div class=\"rt-accordion-item-body\"><\/p>\n<p>ISO 26000 is explicit on the 7 key principles of \u201caccountability\u201d, \u201ctransparency\u201d, \u201cethical behaviour\u201d and \u201crespect for stakeholder interests\u201d as the ingredients of socially responsible behavior. Applying and promoting these principles, together with the other principles, is a fundamental basis of the decision-making process and structures within organizational governance.
